Subject: Summer Solstice 1999
If all of us take the time to examnine our lives closely, most of us will realize that important shifts occurred in our lives this year between the Vernal Equinox and today's Solstice. Whether dramatic or subtle, these changes are bound to affect each of us profoundly as we tenuously prepare for and design our futures in these tumultuous times. For those of us who wish to ride the tides of change rather than be swept away or engulfed by them, the next 3 months call for a realistic reassessment and redefinition of our direction to date, as well as a reorientation toward the life arenas in which these opportunities for transformation have occurred.

Resistance and rigidity will make adjusting to these neccessary changes more difficult. Adaptation is the key to emotional survival this summer. Imagination and intuition open doors to further support our spiritual growth and awareness. As such, all of us are behooved to take time to relax, knowing all the while that we have everything we need to further facillitate our unfolding.

Kristina, Happy Solstice and congratulations on getting your board up and running today. This is a wonderful addition to our spirital community at large to openly share ideas and views as we all move (sometimes awkwardly) into the New Paradigm. This is a definitely a momentous time in all of our lives as we shake, rattle, and roll into the New Millenium! We certainly need each other and each other's support to make the transition, transformation, and transmutation! Light and love to you, Linda

Subject: Sleeping under the stars
As many people know, I own 8 remote acres of land in Southeastern Ohio. Eventually, various sites will be built there for others to come and revel in the peace that being outdoors inspires, not in a "groupie" kind of way, but rather to reconnect with Mother Earth according to each person's desire.

Subject: Sleeping under the stars/II
In the last 4 years, this land has become my refuge, my place of renewal. Alas, life has been so obligatorily crazy lately that I haven't been able to get out there as much as I am accustomed to. This evening, my entire being was yearning to walk with nature and breathe in the refreshing night air. While strolling through my (semi) manicured suburban gardens, I had what my kids would call a "No Duh" experience--who said I can't sleep outside right in my very own backyard, just like I did when I was a kid? I was yet again reminded of how compartimentalized our lives have become. So. The tent is up...I have dozens of candles to take out into the night with me so I can read, dream and sleep under the stars.

I guess all I was trying to say in the above messages is that these days so many of us are governed by "if only's" and "when's". In my case, I had cordoned off communing with nature in a deep way. Sure, I have my "city" gardens, but somehow I had started thinking about them in a different way (for one, out on my land nobody is looking over my shoulder to see if I have weeded or watered!) Other people have said to me, "when I get enough money, I am going to___[fill in the blank]" or, "if only I had time, I would___[again, fill in the blank]." Tonight I was reminded of how ridiculous this way of thinking is, how it does not serve us. After all is said and done, "if" never happens, and "when" never comes.

Subject: what ifs
True enough. We are governed by what if (and their negative counterpart). And also by a fear of being seen as..hmm..weird (unless you have money in which case you are eccentric). One of the things I have been reteaching myself this year is to remember the wonder, regardless of what others think

Of course you do not HAVE to have your own land, it just works much better. A friend and I have found a small park near Newark that we both love...over a month of going there and yet to see a single person:)

Subject: My heart is FILLED with JOY!!!
When I was sleeping outside last night I lay there looking at the stars and contemplated what I was doing with Celestial Perspective. I spiralled down to the "trap" of worrying about whether it would "work" or not. I mean, most sites are about self-promotion, not other-promotion [must be my Pisces Midheaven working, hardy har...]. My formerly described "No Duh" experience was anteceded (to coin a new verb) once again by the wisdom of my daughters, though they did not say this outloud: "If you build it, they will come."

Subject: JOY!!!/II
So anyway, after I awakened this morning feeling totally renewed I had to do my mom and business jazz as always. Then I got online and Lo and Behold there are posts here from bardic who is my favorite leprechaun on the planet and Linda Stein-Luthke, whom you will all read more about when Larry and I get the Favorite Links page together. Yes, this CAN work!

Subject: JOY!!!/III and a request
Speaking of the Favorite Links page, the Calendar of Events is still under construction too. I would like to issue a PLEA to anyone who has favorite links that would fit in with the spirit of this forum to email TheNewCp@aol.com with URLs, as well as any events that are happening in the next several months. Hopefully, a skeletal version of both of these areas will be up by week's end.

Subject: Re: "what if's" and "parks"
Amen, bardic, to what you said about "what if's". Regarding land ownership and all, I imagine you and perhaps others will get a kick out of what transpired the last time I visited my land. [Warning to all the skeptics on board, whose opinions we value: the following message might make you want to reach for your inquiring barf bags]. Anyway, I am out there with Mike. He is doing his construction act and wanting him to help him and all as we plod along building the first wee chalet. I threw up my hands and took a long walk. I realized that this was the first time I had been there since I paid off the mortgage. The cacaphony of the locusts and the bees and the trees was deafening! The message I got was this: "It's about time Kristina, that you finally paid for the honor of us owning you. So continue to listen to us carefully and we will continue to direct you as to the form and purpose of this land must take." Hmmmm...what do you all think? Half jest, but maybe serious?

Subject: Waking up to the wonder
This poem, a recent favorite of mine, seemed somehow related to Kristina's and Bardic's thoughts. The Sun By Mary Oliver Have you ever seen anything in your life more wonderful than the way the sun, every evening, relaxed and easy, floats toward the horizon and into the clouds or the hills, or the rumpled sea, and is gone— and how it slides again out of the blackness, every morning, on the other side of the world, like a red flower streaming upward on its heavenly oils, say, on a morning in early summer, at its perfect imperial distance— and have you ever felt for anything such wild love— do you think there is anywhere, in any language, a word billowing enough for the pleasure that fills you, as the sun reaches out as it warms you as you stand there, empty-handed— or have you too turned from this world— or have you too gone crazy for power, for things?

Subject: ...the wonder
Or another (please indulge me), by Mary Oliver called Mockingbirds: This morning two mockingbirds in a green field were spinning and tossing the white ribbons of their songs into the air. I had nothing better to do than listen. I mean this seriously. In Greece, a long time ago, an old couple opened their door to two strangers who were, it soon appeared, not men at all, but gods. It is my favorite story— how the old couple had almost nothing to give but their willingness to be attentive— but for this alone the gods loved them and blessed them— when they rose out of their mortal bodies, like a million particles of water from a fountain, the light swept into all the corners of the cottage, and the old couple, shaken with understanding, bowed down—but still they asked for nothing but the difficult life which they had already. And the gods smiled, as they vanished, clapping their great wings. Wherever it was I was supposed to be this morning— whatever it was I said I would be doing— I was standing at the edge of the field— I was hurrying through my own soul, opening its dark doors— I was leaning out; I was listening.

Subject: Mary Oliver's poems
Weymouth, those poems are lovely. How did you happen to discover her works? Thank you so much for sharing them. Hmmm...in this, the third birthing of CP, I guess we are all learning the format restrictions of this forum, but that too is part of life in the body I suppose. Actually, I rather liked reading her poetry as prose. I think I responded differently from how I would have otherwise.
